NormanH Posted December 31, 2008 Share Posted December 31, 2008 I have often heard these spoken of, but I had no idea of the scale of the swindle.This article claims that "Clawing back just one year's tax would have been enough to pay for the government's £20bn fiscal stimulus package"and that "Britain's top companies avoid paying £25bn in tax a year".If this is the case why are they tolerated? These are legal uses of the taxation system.If you're asking should the UK Government introduce legislation to amend the situation then the answer is that this, and previous Governments, are afraid to do so because the individuals and companies that presently benefit would simply up sticks and go elsewhere.
