NormanH
You can opt to reduce the payments, which have been calculated on last year's amount, if you think you will be eligible for the reduction this year.If you don't you will pay the same as last year and it will presumably be reimbursed in October or November.
Chancer
I got an e-mail to that effect this morning, at first I thought it was another phishing attempt! I can see why they have put the onus on the contribuable, we should by now know what our revenues were for 2017 and whether we will be imposable so can decide whether to reduce our payments. I will and thanks for the reminder, I had already forgotten that I was going to do so! Dont forget to tale off another 10th or thereabouts for the January overpayment
Patf
I can't remember if it was on this forum, but I wrote about our surprise refund of Tax Hab. about 2 years ago, when Hollande was president.No-one would believe me.No change in Tax Fonc. though. NormanH
I think yours was on the basis of age and income, but this a new reduction for everyone (for a main residence) who comes under the limit of income...
woolybanana
What is happening for the tax on second homes or dont they pay it?
EuroTrash
I think at the moment the reductions only apply to French taxpayers and for their principal residence only. AFAIK second homes haven't been mentioned. For the time being at any rate I imagine they will keep paying in full.
Chancer
More than full because the 20% who will still have to pay will have to make up the lost revenue from the 80% now exonerated. Wanted, magic money tree [:P]
NormanH
In fact the suggestion is that the Taxe d'Habitation will be completely done away with for everybody from 2020.I have heard rumblings that the money to replace will come from a 'revalorisation' of the notional rental value of properties which is the basis of the calculation for the TF (as well at present of the TdH).This hasn't been done for about 40 years so a lot of older properties are 'undervalued' whereas newer ones may be up to date.Obviously this could lead to large rises in the Taxes foncières of these older places...https://www.immobilier-danger.com/Revision-des-valeurs-locatives-728.html
nomoss
We don't pay Foncières either[:D]Except for the Taxe ordures ménagères, which seems illogical to be paid by the property owner rather than the occupiers. But who said taxes should be logical? Chancer
Just modified my prélèvements, easy enough to do. Nearly made a mistake though, its not 30% off the total but 30% off the taxe not including the redevance audiovisuelle. I have €20 a month less going out now!
