Clarkkent
In my extended family there are two adopted children - and my mother had been adopted, too. However this does not give me any expertise or insight into this case. In the case of my nephews, both have always known that they were adopted, my mother found out late in life but had always known her natural mother. At some time when they are growing up, the children in the present case will be curious about their origins. I would hope that the local authority involved will be tasked at that point with a serious damage limitation responsibility and offer not just apologies (we have seen how arrogant bankers can be trained in apology technique) but reconciliation and compensation. Perhaps the children can eventually benefit from being members of two families.
NormanH
OK . I apologise if my reaction to this article was expressed in anill-tempered way. It is in no way an attack on the Original postereither, who is always thoughtful.Yes I am a family man and can sympathise with such situations, but notmore with this than with families shattered by war and politics inGaza, by disease and dictatorship in Zimbabwe, and by arson inAustralia. If there is to be an 'Other' section I would prefer it to deal with real news or major issues. Clarkkent
In what way is this not "real news"? Is real news only about disasters or politics? Isn't looking at the way in which the machinations of "the state" impinges on ordinary lives and the way we struggle to deal with such events real news as well?
