Dog
Strange no other person has posted. Didn't anyone see the news today Archant let 50 people go due to loss in advertising revenue. I hope this site isn't costing them too much.
woolybanana
Perhaps the sites are threatened, who knows, though I think they would have more sense than to kill their seedcorn

Dog
Today I read that they only had 159 employees - even with my bad maths I work out that's nearly 30% of the workers laid off.
Will
If you are going to post such a story, please either give its source or check that you are posting the correct facts. The 50 redundancies apply to Archant's regional newspaper company in Norfolk - in fact my source (www.journalism.co.uk) says it is 'about 50', the actual figure being 54 journalists out of 179. That figure does not include advertising, sales, production and administartive staff. It is part of a general restructuring of Archant's East Anglian regional newspaper operation. Linked to this, Archant Print's Ipswich print works was recently closed - reportedly 12 of the 28 employees there took redundancy, the rest moving to Norwich.Living France, France magazine and French Property News are published by Archant Life, which is a totally different division from the regional newspaper companies. Although there has recently been some restructuring of management jobs on the regional magazines this does not, as far as I am aware, affect the France titles. Archant Life currently employs around 400 people according to its web site. As well as Archant Regional and Archant Life, the group includes Archant Specialist, Archant Dialogue and Archant Print. The whole group has about 2600 employees.Although the web sites for most of Archant's magazines and regional newspapers share the same servers and databases, the loss of some newspaper journalists in East Anglia is hardly likely to affect sites such as this.I don't work for Archant, though I do work in magazine publishing.
