Er well sort of yes and sort of no, in other words he is doing what America does best, double speak when they know they can't get away with something.

When the Lisbon Treaty comes in to effect then Europe acting as one is bigger than the US. Poland is part of the EU and therefore is protected by the rest of the EU under the treaty. The Lisbon Treaty has a 'Common and Foreign Security Policy' which in layman's terms means in Europe the EU takes precedence over NATO, in other words the member states loyalties lay with the EU army and not the US. The result of this would be after the treaty comes in to force the 7 prime states with the exception of the UK (coz it's got its head so far up the US backside) would demand and could even possibly physically remove the US missiles from Poland.

What Obama now wants to do is blag his way in to placing about 40 missiles on three or four sites across Europe. Its basically asking for a lot then coming back and saying "well tell you what, instead of a shed load we decided to place only 40 in Europe". The problem for Obama is that after the treaty is signed there is every chance he will be told to bog off and no US missles will be placed anywhere in Europe.

As America sends more troops into the middle east???

The decision to award this peace prize was apparently taken when Obama had been in office only 11 days !!!!!! What exactly had he done at that point to deserve it, or since for that matter.
