NormanH
I am toying with the idea of a new computer, and with the almost simultaneous arrival of Windows 7 and the new iMacs I am tempted by the 27 inch Mac.Is it a big change? Do they come more or less bareback? Do I need to pay lots extra for the operating system and basic programmes? Can I find replacements for all my familiar (often open source) programmes. This is a very basic level enquiry. I can find out lots with Google, but I just want to get a taste of what might confront me if I sit down in front of the screen for the first time.I don't want to think "oh sh*t" I didn't realise that !Any views or experiences (especially of going over to Mac from Windows) would be welcome.I have already tried out Linux, so am used to a quick learning curve.. buelligan
I hardly know the difference between apples and oranges Norman, but I believe that you can dual-boot the new iMacs with Windows (so you can run both operating systems). I have been told that XB actually runs better on a Mac than on a PC.
