In a way it goes some way to proving my theory about cancer. I have long been of the opinion that we all have the ability to create cancer cells but that ability lays dormant. Some people have a susceptibility to these cells being triggered where others don't. DNA technology has advanced quite a bit now and you can have tests to see if you might be susceptible to certain types of cancer. What your list indicates to me is that its a list of 'triggers'. Bit like smoking and cancer, my mother-in-law gave up 28 years before she succumbed to lung cancer whilst my grandmother who smoked 60 un-tipped Capstan Full Strength a day was only months short of her 100th birthday when she died of old age.

My first wifes grandfather had a lung removed in the early sixties and carried on smoking.

He used to make me laugh he'd sit there smoking, puffing away saying smoking had never done him any harm, with one hand clamped over his chest as smoke escaped through his fingers from the hole in his chest. Seems the surgery in the sixties didn't stretch to closing the hole.

If I gave up everything on that list (not that I indulge in them all of course !) I think I'd be that miserable I'd want to be dead [:'(]

Tragically a colleagues wife very recently succumbed to lung cancer at age 43 having never smoked a cigarette in her life, he is a non smoker too, go figure !

Hi Richard

That list must have taken you days to compile!  Your 'staying power' is much admired.

You haven't got cabin fever perhaps ?

Copy and paste from another forum :)

However, someone must have done it. Perhaps it was the same bloke who sat down for 40 years comparing snowflakes to find out no two snowflakes are alike....

Q, you sound just like my OH - as a scientist he says such things like that, though in this case I agree with you both.  That is why the idea of cancer fills people with so much dread - it is not a respecter of persons, and one cannot ever know, or take all precautions.  And certainly not to the extent of making your life miserable, as said by another poster here.

Having read the list so kindly posted by RDL  it looks as if I am safe from most of those.  A little disturbing though is that, although it's not on the list, I am guilty of misreading stuff posted on forums and have just emptied cornflakes all over my kitchen table to try to disprove the 40 year old study that no two corn flakes are identical.

I am also fond of grilled blue cheese on sliced banana but don't tell the Daily Mail.

NB. By the way I wasn't able to match any two of the cornflakes.
