Salisbury Cathedral was built with "donations" extracted from people and from those hoping to buy their way into what they imagined was the after life, and with the sweat of underpaid serfs who carried most of the stones from Old Sarum.

Cromwell was no saint, but he cleaned up a very corrupt and self serving Church which was holding back progress in intellectual development and bleeding the country of wealth which was needed elsewhere.

The Pope is the head of a false state and should pay his own security costs. Why should the country pay for the security of the head of a corrupt institution, on a par with Scientology. After all, he invited himself.

Something to be said for AIDs infected people to slow down at least on sex

No good slowing down, once is enough.......people  with Aids don't suddenly lose any desire for a sex life, but according to the Pope they should just accept it and become celibate - great in theory, but totally unrealistic

Perhaps there should be a visit by the Queen to the Vatican in which she attacks the Roman Catholic church for not allowing abortion (for the pro-lifers the option for the child could be either remaining in a home where it is not wanted or passed through a succession of foster homes), same sex relationships (and that does not include priests doing whatever they want with little boys), birth control apart from the Russian Roulette method (thereby reducing the need for ther number of abortions) - and let the Vatican pick up the bill for it.
