Gardengirl
We've just got in and tuned to BBC to hear that Ed Milliband has won the election for new Labour leader. Didn't like either of the brothers, who seem to have done a complete ''it wasn't me gov!'', although I seem to think they were around at the time Labour did various things. However, I can't help feeling a little sorry for big brother who was ahead in the polls falling behind kid brother in the end. It must hurt a lot!
woolybanana
Labour is in thrall to the Unions yet again; a step backward yet again.

Edward Trunk
In thrall to the unions, Wooly; and, as we all know, it was the unions, who, through their reckless borrowing and lending, plunged Britain into a financial crisis which will cost Joe Public years to put right. Why don't you protest outside Congress House, Wooly?

Russethouse
I heard that the odds against them being elected next time round improved within minutes of the result - is that the end of 'new' Labour ?
Kitty
So Labour has lurched to the left with the election of Ed Millibrand as leader and Ken Livingston as London mayoral candidiate. Inevitable, I suppose, with the Coalition taking the centre ground.

tegwini
Well I object to his attitude to his girlfriend - too busy to marry her - but not too busy to make her pregnant twice!Bit of a bad example, but isn't Doncaster (part of his constituency) is one of those places with a hig percentage of single (never married) mothers. No doubt they will marry- but only if he has a chance of moving into Downing Street.Tegwini
woolybanana
Do you really think that having a ring through the nose really makes any difference in these enlightened times, Tegwini. If they are living as they believe, then fine.Had you thought that maybe SHE wouldn't marry him. There are many more important issues than his marriage or not to deal with. Russethouse
If he is happy to make babies then not turn up just to sign the certificate, I wouldn't (not even if I was 30 years younger) doesn't say too much about his priorities.I just hope he never tells us how important family is to him [;-)]
woolybanana
Strange, it used to take two people to make a baby!Or is the poor girl chained to a bed as an object of his lusts?

Russethouse
It seems it also takes two to officially note who it's parents are - honestly I'd be hard pressed to think of an excuse for not making time to sign your own childs birth certifacate - c'est la vie - you reap what you sow.( Recently a young lady I know virtually excluded her father from her wedding celebrations: as he had never put anything in to the relationship, he got nothing out!) Gardian
I'm avoiding all News bulletins just now, because I'm sick to death of hearing the word MILIBAND.Its Miliband this, Miliband that, will he, won't he (his bruv), does he, doesn't he, what's his 'new style' going to be, etc, etc. After an electoral defeat that, against all the odds, fell just short of a disaster, there's been a leadership election that took longer than most gestations (I exaggerate slightly, but not much [6])Anybody noticed that he's got a funny walk? Russethouse
I think what is more serious is the way he was more than happy to stab his predecessors in the back today - something left a nasty taste !At the least he could have given credit for coping with a different/difficult set of circumstances. There was something shabby about it.
