woolybanana
Mandelbrot showed some fascinating stuff, but what I don't understand is how and why our minds perceive fractals and how they are important in our own make up and thought. Do they for example reflect the way we store information?http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/art/art-features/8080336/Benoit-Mandelbrot-from-cauliflowers-to-cosmic-secrets.html
pachapapa
Fractals have been extensively used to assist in the comprehension of ore body mineralisation in the mining industry.http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/section?content=a789605862&fulltext=713240928http://www.google.fr/search?hl=fr&q=mineralisation+fractals+&meta=

AnOther
I remember Mandelbrot and fractals way back from my days with BBC computers in the 80's. Watching them form and grow on the screen was well worth the effort of typing in the programme, saving it to cassette, then spending the next week debugging it [geek]Interesting observations on broccoli romanesco in the article, perhaps they should rename it Mandelbrot broccoli in his honour [:D]As a completely pointless aside it always puts me in mind of a Chameleons eye !
