Mr Coeur de Lion
Trying to find my gran in the UK as she's coming up for 100 and I haven't seen or heard from her in 10 years.I typed her details in 192.com and she comes up, but the info is a bit confusing.Firstly, on the electrol roll in the top left of the results box it says Electoral Roll 2002-06. Other matches say Electoral Roll 2010 (for other matches with the same surname). It also has underneth her result "other occupants" with their names in. She lives in a small one bedroom flat and there's no way enough room for anyone else. I have no contact with any of my family. Can I assume by this, that she is dead? How else can I find out if she is alive or dead?
Thibault
You can try the Death Index. If you buy a "pay-as-you-go" credit from "Findmypast" you will be able to search either the Death Index or the "search for living people" parts of the site. I am not sure of their web address - but you can Google it.
Chancer
I hope she still is alive. At that age she would more than likely either be living with family or in a care home, perhaps that is the reason.
Russethouse
Why not try BT's white pages with her old address ? I'm not sure how recent the death indexes are on 'Find my past,' are they up to date ?
Tony F Dordogne
Could also try the death index on the UK National Archives site, should be the most up to date records because all the other search engines take their information from that one.http://www.gro.gov.uk/groThis link may help. Mr Coeur de Lion
Is BT's white pages www.whitepages.co.uk? Because if it is it goes to 192.com.Directory assistance seemed much easier in the old days, this is all new to me, been out the country too long i think.Edit, found BT's version. Now am I right in thinking that there is no longer one central database with this info anymore? Nothing found with BT, but yes with 192.
Mr Coeur de Lion
Thanks Tony, I found that site last night, but from what I see, there's no search facility, and other ones are showing up with zilch, so I guess that's an indication she's still going strong.
