woolybanana
Or perhaps the mountain has come to Mohamet. The Pope has opened the door at last and has just gone up the merest splinter of a notch in my esteem. Well that may be a bit too much to say.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/religion/the-pope/8148899/Pope-approves-use-of-condoms-in-fight-against-Aids.html
Clarkkent
This is dangerous stuff. He is dragging the RC Church - kicking and struggling - into the 16th century!
woolybanana
Well, it was change or die.How change does come from strange places though; that it should be the most reactionary pope in recent history who allows a small break in the dam, even if he might be trying to draw the teeth of the paedophilia scandal. And how the flock will rush through the breche he has created so that his successor will just be able to shrug.
Quillan
The thing is the papacy is living in the 2,000 year past and for the main part totally ignorant of the public and 'it's flock'. They don't listen, they rule by fear, they have no idea and the pope does not lead or think he is simply a mouthpiece for others in the church. I think most intelligent people will smile, think so what and then totally ignore anything the pope has to say. What they (the church) seem to forget, like all religious organizations is that if somebody blew up the Vatican tomorrow and everyone in the place died nobody would really notice the difference in their daily life, the sky would not fall in, the world would not stop revolving, things would simply carry on as normal.
