just john
Euro's not doing them any favours, interest rates as bad as Pakistans!http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/nov/14/ireland-economic-crisisLooks like many more Irish builders looking for pastures new[Www]
Pommier
It's not surprising that Ireland's in a mess; no council tax, no water rates and massive social benefits such as over €430 a week for a pensioner couple. It never was sustainable.
Alan Zoff
But it seems there is always someone even worse off:http://www.citywire.co.uk/wealth-manager/irish-crisis-overstated-and-portugal-is-worse-says-blackrocks-hibbert/a449034(Will need to cut and paste into browser)
Anton Redman II
While the Irish republic was running the 'inspercia' funded by EU money they just about had the population balance to make it work however when the turned down an EU subvention as not enough they lost the momentum required. It is the only place I have ever been to and thought the population looks young. DerekJ
So now it looks like that although the UK stayed out of the Euro, the British taxpayer is still going to end up shelling out money to bail out the Irish mess. I never thought we had any money left but it seems we do!
woolybanana
Why don't the Irish simply become part of the Great Britain again, a much easier solution!

Thibault
Does anyone think it a good idea to let the Irish economy go down the tubes given that the UK sells more to the Irish Republic than the combined total of its trade with several other countries such as China and the Irish Republic is one of the UK's largest customers? woolybanana
One rather suspects that the glee at the Irish problem is really aimed by proxy at the megabullies and liars in Brussels and Berlin who have created a currency based on a lie. mint
I hadn't realised that countries are just like individuals: you be profligate with no thought for getting into debt, enjoy yourself, have a wonderful time and, when it all goes pear shaped, someone comes along and bails you out.Problem solved!
