Frederick
Listening to an organiser on the radio today in the UK.. Southampton Uni held a demo re proposed fees increase and he thanked those from local schools and colleges who joined them. Be it in France or the UK it got me thinking at what age would you consider permitting your "child " to go on one of these demonstrations if you supported their cause ? I can see 14 year olds wanting to go . Would you accept some responsibitity for them if they acted in a way that caused damage or injury to others ? Or would you be first to complain if they were tear gassed maced or hit with a baton or a water cannon jet ? A young man faces up to 5 years for the fire extinguisher incident thrown off the roof at Conservative party HQ no doubt caught up in the excitement of the moment and reason went out the window . A ruined future there and parents shattered dreams .

Chrissie
A friend here was cross to learn that her 14-year old grandson had gone to take part in the anti-pension-reform protest in Toulouse. "But you should have been in school!" she told him. "Oh, that's OK," he replied, "the head teacher gave us 200 euros to hire a coach."....................................[blink]Chrissie (81)
