val douest
The Beeb are currently running a trailer for their 'Romancing the Stone - the Golden Age of British Sculpture' series which is accompanied by a haunting piano solo. The music sounds so familiar but I just can't place it - can anyone help?Val

Cendrillon
That is one of the most melancholy and sad pieces of music that I know, it always makes me feel a bit unnerved.

Patf
I've got the piano music. You can borrow it if you like - it's not very difficult to play.
cooperlola
There is an application which i-phone owners can get (no doubt there's other software about but this is the one I have seen in action) called Shazam, which recognises which piece of music is being played and then (natch!) tells you where you can buy it. I was at a music festival last year and a track was being played between bands which I liked the sound of. My friend who was with me at the time, got out his i-phone and within about 30 second was able to tell me who it was by, what it was called etc, and (if he'd wanted to) could have downloaded it on the spot. An amazing piece of kit if there isn't a load of helpful and knowledgeable forum members about at the time!
val douest
Many thanks, Patf. But I don't play, and sadly our piano was sold before we came to France. I'm very much enjoying listening to the various versions of this piece (and others by the same composer) on the internet though.Val
Keni
My favourite piano concerto is 'The Dream of Olwen', played by Charles Williams - I have the lead 78, can only play it on my Phillips, which I bought when I was around 23 (now mid fifties). Great music.
