woolybanana
Some of you will doubtless be foaming at the bit to get details of the royal wedding, so here it is, as seen from the point of view of the Nouvel Obs:http://tempsreel.nouvelobs.com/actualite/le-mariage-de-kate-et-william/and, as slagged off by the trendy Toon from Toontown, Martin Amishttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/royal-wedding/8456652/Martin-Amis-attacks-Royal-family-as-philistines.htmland here is the Nouvel Obs translator so you can have fun doing the bits you want yourself:http://reverso.nouvelobs.com/textonly/default.asp
Quillan
I will (no pun) be glad when its all over. I do not feel negative about the Royal's, I wouldn't like the job. Imagine that you are forced to do a job and 'groomed' from an early age through no fault of your own, an accident of birth as it where. So there I don't feel anything, bad nor good. I do hope people just leave them to get on with life, yes attack the monarchy as an institution but not the individuals. I am hoping that Will and Kate will be more 'normal' than the rest. I remember years ago when I kept a boat at Penton Hook marina opposite Thorpe Park. Diana and the kids used to go there from time to time and she would make them wait in the queue to get in along with everyone else. Perhaps that 'normalness' has stayed with them.Anyway I am having a 'Wedding Free' mega beach party on the 29th and I hope at the end I will not remember either the party or the wedding. mint
As many on here know, we moved house recently and a couple of the new neighbours walk past our house most evenings with a dog.Well, our dog is friendly with their dog so, one evening, OH asked whether they wouldn't just come in for a drink.Virtually the first thing the neighbour said to me was, do you know that William and Kate are coming here to the Dordogne? She caught me so off guard that all I managed was "vraiment?" Yes, yes, they are coming for their honeymoon!Didn't think it the right occasion to point out that I thought the French weren't enamoured of monarchy....coward that I was! woolybanana
The French would love a consitutional monarchy with no powers. Someone to look up to and worship. Then they could forget the load of ****s they have had as presidents!
