Frederick
It seems France has a lot of her nuclear power stations drawing cooling water from rivers ... It appears in a drought they could be shut down due to lack of cooling water. http://www.globalissues.org/news/2011/06/08/9993...

woolybanana
Yes, there have been various reports about this. Shall we say that concern is being expressed about the lack of water.
idun
There have been some problems in the past with low rivers. I think that the CEA and Surete Nucleaire are quite aware and hopefully will make sure that any reactors at risk are closed down properly, if this really becomes a problem. Since Fufushima they are 'controlling' all the reactors in France, daresay that will take some time as there are quite a lot of them.
andyh4
It was an issue but not a problem in 2003 - and we are still some way from that.

pachapapa
As I remember 2003 the issue was the temperature at the outlet from the plant vis-à-vis the risk of killing the aquatic life. There was absolutely no chance of the plant being closed due to the adverse conditions.
