Val_2
Worries me because my mum is in a private owned care home that has many on it's portfolio in the region. They are closely tied in with the local social services and council though, so perhaps that maybe enough to protect those particular homes. Its time the government stepped in to protect people and jobs and not let these fat cats strip all the assets for years until they are discovered. Profit is one thing, personal gain through the misery of elderly and infirm people and their families is another. Whenyou consider how much they charge per week which is approx £800 for my mum and for that,we cannot work out what it goes on because they are short staffed anyway and most of the patients are either in their rooms all day or in bed and they don't eat a great deal.
