Russethouse
The England team could be in after tea at this rate........115 for 7 as I type.........
Gardian
We went out at 13.30 (12.30 UK time) and it was about 50 - 1.Got back at 15.45 and it was 130 - 7 and lunch had been taken during that couple of hours !!
Gardian
Setting aside the state of play, which is great for England, I'm just so pleased that the authorities had the guts to go ahead with the match.

NormanH
A cheerful thread!Come on England..I used to get in to watch Somerset at the end of the day in the Botham/Richards/Garner days..One thing I have never managed to explain to the French, or get them to even be interested in is Cricket. Pierre ZFP
I nearly got my French work colleagues interested in cricket.Their curiosity was piqued because I get so passionate about it.They asked me to explain the game (Ha! do you have a few days to spare) and were really interested when I mentioned that play stops for meals'How long is lunch?' they asked'Normally 40 minutes' says I'Pah! that is no good!' and no further mention was made [:(] England are doing rather well though aren't they [:)]
Russethouse
Will India go after Cook to stop him making 200 ?
Pierre ZFP
I imagine that England will declare if they get around 600. The Chef is playing steady but slow so I think it's more a case of having enough time to get his 200 rather than getting out.(Hope the rain holds off!) Gardian
I reckon that England will want to pile it on and make (say) 650 - 700 and declare at tea.Blue sky would be Cook's 200 and a decent few runs for Bhopara. The Indians can't continue to bat so poorly, so they're overdue for a halfway decent score: it's got to happen sooner or later and it might be here on this wicket. Doubt that it'll save them though.
Russethouse
Only another 12 to go for Cook - also hope that rain doesn't stop play !

Russethouse
So at which point will they declare and put India in ? I wonder if they are under pressure to make sure there is play on the last day ?
Pierre ZFP
Good point, I think England will bat at least all of today (especially if rain delays play) and maybe even until lunch tomorrow then 1.5 to 2 days to skittle India outAfter all, they don't want a draw do they
Russethouse
On the love internet coverage Micheal Vaughan is asking what the team do with Cook in terms of the declaration? Will they let him get Graham Gooch's 333? or do they let him get past Len Hutton's 364?" Lets hope they have the choice !!!
Mr Ice-ni
Shame he was out just short of 300. With only 2 days to go I doubt whether there was time for him to get to Sir Len's record anyway. [6]I see that the World's Greatest Living Batsman has, allegedly, criticised Cook for slow scoring - methinks a touch of pot and kettle there. With the umpires taking the players off every time a cloud was spotted over Scotland the declaration could not have been delayed much longer. As for taking play into day 5 the English bowlers seem determined to help out.John

Russethouse
In my paper he is the one who criticised Cooks bowling rate - ( he is Elizabeth Hurley's new beau - far from being the Shane we knew and loved he now looks like a plasticised version - think real cheese and Kraft sandwich slices and you have the picture [:)] )
Mr Ice-ni
I see, said the blind man. Shine was many things as a cricketer but even he would never claim to be the WGLB.BTW if he criticised Cook's bowling rate he should watch a little more closely.John
