With all the gloom around, and the threads about things like the Liverpool Care Pathway, I thought it worth posting this.

The contemporary classical American composer Elliot Carter has just died at 103.

He was active right up to the end, composing his last piece in August, and this interview where he advises a young cellist on playing one of his pieces was recorded in July

His music is far from everyone's cup of tea, but what a wonderfully satisfying life to have lead right up to the end
