Mobile phones on planes (and other things)

Seem to remember a great debate on this last year (perhaps). Well there is a new book out that explains some of these myths.

Yes we had quite a lot of fun didn't we and Chief luvvie began to throw his toys out of the cockpit [:)]  It's the same with petrol stations enough people ignore the rule on phones that if it were true we would have in all probability actually had an explosion by now.

Even if it technically possible to make a call on a flight

Please don't let the cat out of the bag.

After so many years of commuting with 'I'm on the train, come and pick me uuuuuup'

the last thing I need is my small oasis of peace being spoilt with 'I'm on the plane.....'  Aaaaarrrrggh

I would gladly shoot anyone talking on a mobile phone during a flight,  people shout on them and do not care about anyone else. I always take a train when in a quiet carriage when I can. And why does anyone have to be in touch with everyone that they know every minute of the day.

They are useful but basically dreadful things.

And we managed without them for years, and for most of the time, I still do.

I take it with me when travelling but rarely use it. 

And it's never on unless I am  making a call myself, or expecting one .. which means that they've had to communicate in another way with me beforehand ...
