tinabee
Not directly France related but it may affect those people who are still UK tax resident but spend a lot of time in France (or other countries). There is a new Statutory Residence Test which will determine who is tax resident in the UK or not. . .http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/international/rdr3.pdfthe rules are pretty explicit, if complex
Pickles
I think that the rules really are about making it more difficult for people to avoid UK tax residency. I suspect that most second home owners are not in a position to contemplate being non-UK-tax-resident.
EuroTrash
It won't make a scrap of difference as far as the French tax people are concerned. France has its own criteria If someone is tax resident in France as per the French criteria, the fact that the new UK test says person is also UK tax resident will cut no ice with them. I don't see that the new rules have done anything to clarify the grey area where different countries' criteria overlap.
