HoneySuckleDreams
I've just tried buying some clothes on line and had a lot of problems. (UK company)I tried paying with a credit card but because of a spelling mistake on the billing address the card was refused. I tried a second card which was refused also, apparently because once the first refusal happened the account was locked for 7 days - "to protect me against fraud".I was advised to create another account, which I did and tried to pay via PayPa this time, linked to my UK bank account. Bizarrely, the new order appeared on the original account - I was told "because the billing address is the same it links to the other account because of fraud issues" What??? subsequently... Computer said NoI've never heard of this before. I know if your visa card gets blocked you sometimes have to phone up to get it unblocked, but that wasn't the case here. Is this the norm now? Locking you out for a week? At the busiest shopping time of the year ?I had I right old rant at them, I even accused them of being a French company in disguise, but apparently it's all automated now and there is nothing they (or me) can do about it. Pierre ZFP
I do sympathise, I had a similar situation last year just before going on holiday.I had bought flights, rental car (in Portugal) and some things for my holiday when the card company blocked it for 'Unusual activity' I called the card company and explained that this was all fine. Their immediate response was cancel the card ! Nooooooooo, I'm going on holiday in 2 days !!! 'We will send another card out as soon as possible - it should be with you in a week' [:-))]I rang up the customer dept (in the UK) and spoke to a nice lady wsaid she would arrange a card to be courried to me. It arrived the morning that I was going away!
HoneySuckleDreams
Pierre - I can understand your pain - this had nothing to do with my cards, only the in-line account for the particular site.It got worse this morning as I got receipts from PayPal saying that the money had actually been taken from my bank account and sent to the business. As I tried 3 times to place an order, that is 3x the money out of my account. I had expected, as the orders had been cancelled, that nothing would be taken, as with the Visa transactions.I phoned, again, and found to my horror that the money would not be returned automatically. It's a manual process where the customer asks customer services who contact the finance division to ask for a refund. So it's me...chasing my own money. Quick enough to take it from you though. And if they received payment from PayPal, why are they cancelling the orders "just in case of fraud"? I'm still waiting for the repayments. And you think French shopping can be an obtuse experience.Absolute f8ckwits
