Frederick
"We made a mistake ......Sorry " http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26106290No sorry from Baroness Young of Old Scone who when appointed CE of the Environment Agency and was CE of the RSPB forgot which hat she was wearing and put the dredging money into a bird sanctuary yet it would appear . Théière
And now another large chunk of the public's' purse will be spent whilst this lot play the blame game.Least we forget these career politicians have no actual knowledge of the subject they are put in charge of and just as they begin to see the mists clear they are shunted off to another role to which they are equally un acquainted to begin bumbling around again at our expense. Pathetic waste of space aren't they. Not forgetting the debacle of hiring and retaining people to work for you when they are not allowed to stay in this country and THAT is actually your department responsibility. Just stupid.Mark Harper story
Russethouse
Apparently the Bird Sanctuary came about as a direct result of improving flood defences for a village, which have worked.....

RH, can't you cut and paste when trying to quote, it's very tedious to try and read who you are quoting but having to do that twice is worse ;-)

Théière
Is it, I thought they were the cure to all ills. Still getting used to other browsers like firefox at the moment, work quite well but no smillies and quoting doesn't work but linking can ease that issue. Russethouse
Well it night be a SUE, Stupid User Error :-)I heard the mention of the flood defence being the primary activity and the Bird Sanctuary following on, on the Politics Show, but I'm afraid I can't find a link. Théière
Me neither, all info is in one direction, they built the sanctuary with money that should have been used elsewhere.
Russethouse
The gist of what was said was that they pulled the flood defences back, closer to the village (IIUC ) and turned the land between the old flood defences and the new were made into a bird sanctuary. Apparently it was a reporter who dug into this, but I can't find which one..very annoying !
