Smithy
We have been trying to buy a property in Normandy for the last 10 Months. The property consists of an old dwelling with a large barn attached. It now seems the authorities will not issue a CU because of various reasons, which are debatable i.e. no other houses in the area, yet there are other properties on all sides Has anyone bought a property without a CU and managed to obtain one at a later date. Or bought a property and done minor renovations and used it for occassional weekend etc staying in a caravan on site with a CU.
Will
I have heard of French estate agents pressing very hard at the mairie for a reluctant mayor to sign off the CU application - if you have the grant of a CU as a suspensive clause in your compromis de vente, as is always strongly advised, the sale can't go through until the CU is granted so it's in the agent's interest to help things through - otherwise they stand to lose a substantial amount of commission. Can your agent help? Will (50)
