Moving primary residence to France

Dear All,

Wondered if anyone had any advice on the following.

We will be moving to our farmhouse in the Tarn later this year from the US, originally we are both from the EU. I want to work on the house for the first year, so dont need my CDS but does anyone know if will this cause us problems with the importation of our personal effects from the states. I don't want to be hit with a large importation tax bill.
