Gardian
For railway buffs!A not bad documentary on BBC4 this evening covering the Cornish Riviera, the Flying Scotsman & the Brighton Belle. It wouldn't have told you much that you hadn't known already, but some quite nice footage nonetheless.Being BBC4, it'll be repeated sometime in the next week or so. Pierre ZFP
Since it is about the days of British Rail, I expect it will be late [6]The only one of these trains I ever saw was as a Nipper, standing on Bromley South station when the Golden Arrow thundered through on it's way to Dover.Scared the poo out of me ! nomoss
Yes, quite good, and better than so many of the BBC's pseudo-history "documentaries", where youthful "historians" spout reinvented information about places you knew and events you witnessed. sid
Oh good! I've recorded it so I've got that to look forward to.EDIT: I watched it after lunch and thought it was very good. I'm not a train buff as such, more of a nostalgia freak, and I love those snippets of the post-war period that I remember so well . My parents didn't have a car and we always went on holiday by train, usually to North Wales.
