idun
For those of you with UK TV have you watched The Night Manager?I am a great fan of John LeCarre, but have, not always, I must add, been too often been disappointed when his books have been translated to big or little screen. This however, has me completely enthralled and all too often on the edge of my seat.Wonderful acting and as JlC all too often does, illustrates the rotten world in which we live.I have for some strange reason that is beyond me, not read the book, so have no idea of the ending........ but as with Game of Thrones he has never backed away from sad/horrible endings to his characters.........so I shall have to wait until next Sunday to see what will happen........ can't wait! Gardian
Couldn't agree more - it's certainly my idea of compelling TV.Hugh Laurie is superb in it. Best drama for years IMO.
YCCMB
In the book, Olivia Coleman is a bloke and thus isn't pregnant. I'm kinda hoping that these are the only modifications made to the storyline, as I have read the book.Anyone see HL and OC on Graham Norton weeks ago? Excellent story from HL about going to LeCarré's birthday party as Stephen Fry's 'plus one' and nearly getting shot when about to play "happy birthday" on the piano... idun
I saw them on Graham Norton, don't remember the Happy Birthday, just the mention of international spies being there.
Patf
We've recorded it all and watched some - excellent, never read the books.I think Hugh Laurie is great - he's so versatile, comedy, drama, pianist etc.
