mint
I am a bit amused about how politicians use these words.Macron, in his "victory" speech yesterday made a distinction between patriots and nationalists, saying, naturally, that he wants to work for both.Le Pen talked about "sincere patriots"..........so they come in 2 types, the sincere ones and, by implication, the false ones?May says that if you don't vote Conservative, you are not a patriot. What do YOU think? woolybanana
"The Difference Between patriotism and nationalism is that the patriot is proud of his country for what it does , and the nationalist is proud of his country no matter what it does ; the first attitude creates a feeling of responsibility while the second a feeling of blind arrogance that leads to a war ." (I nicked it!)I guess that patriotism retains human values whilst nationalism does not.
