Iam McEwan on Brexit

Recommended Posts

For me it wasn't the result that was the problem, it's what's happened since.

I naively thought, a year ago, that this could be a new beginning. Britain standing proud and embracing the opportunities and forging new relationships built on mutual respect.

There was potential, albeit slim, to make real changes for the better, but it's all gone down the tubes. If somebody had told me then that a year down the line there would have been no progress, no positivity, just lots of negativity and posturing and excuses and accusations and hate, I would have cried.

(And no I didn't vote Brexit.)
