mint
I ask because I have not touched a drop for at least 3 months now and I have not lost a single ounce in weight.I haven't stopped drinking to lose weight, mind. It's just that the medical bods are prescribing so much poison for me to take that I am reluctant to load my liver up with more work. However, must admit to a sneaky hope that I'd get "rewarded" by abstention[:(]
woolybanana
Yes, but I am not certain whether it is the abstention or the cutting of little extra snacks which drinking definitely encourages.
mint
You could have a point, Wools.I was never a sit down and have a drink and nibble snacks type of person. I mostly drank whilst cooking. Glass on the side and spend time preparing food......enjoyable!Strangely enough, I now just have a glass of Perrier whilst preparing meals and do not even miss the alcohol. Guess I was perhaps not a "proper", serious drinker, lol!
woolybanana
You have broken a habit (ie a glass of wine whilst cooking) and replaced it with another (glass of Perrier etc), not an addiction.Doubtful that you were an addict.I have habits which are a bit difficult to break though such addictions as smoking were surprisingly easy. There remains the constant daytime coffee drinking but is it a habit or an addiction, most probably the former. Not losing weight? Not sure why; I suggest cutting portion sizes
idun
I have never been a drinker so in that respect have no idea. However, one of my best friends had been on a very strict food regime since her mid teens. Sometimes it feels like she is living on a lettuce leaf each day...... I know I exaggerate, but it is a 'frugal' diet never the less......... and she bemoans not losing weight. But she likes her wine and spirits and so her weight remains pretty constant and frankly she is slender anyway. She knows that booze is calorific, but she is not prepared to give it up. IF ever she does, I will certainly know about it, it'll be texts and calls jubilating weight loss[:D]
