Liz
I have been involved in registering an Enduring Power of Atorney recently in the UK. In the UK a form can be completed at any time to indicate that a certain person or persons can be responsible for one's affairs should one become mentally incapable of dealing with them. In this particular case it has proved very worthwhile and saved everyone concerned a lot of problems and it made me wonder if such a thing exists in France. Anyone know?Liz (29)
Val_2
Liz. Our Parisien friend with a holiday home near us has power of attorney here to take care of his mother in law's affairs because she has been in hospital with Alzheimers Disease since 1995 and she is a widow. He has to get authorisation to get things done to her house which stands empty from a judge and also to use her bank account for such work, but he does have this right and didn't have a lot of trouble getting it as his wife is dead and there is absolutely no one else to do it.
