hat is an expression often used in debate and harmless, so I guess is talking through your wig/ hairpiece etc.

So why is such a fuss caused by ‘talking through your turban’

seen as a racist insult in debate?

Another of many reasons we hesitate to visit the UK any more. It's too easy to say the wrong thing.

Last time there, at a party, people were discussing their holidays, booked with the sort of companies who advertise on the inside covers of glossy magazines.

Every speaker seemed to have had a more glamorous holiday then the previous one.

When asked if we had visited some country or other, I replied that we didn't like packaged tours, which went down like the proverbial t*rd in a well.
