NormanH
Many members of this Forum are UK pensioners, so I wondered what the feeling is about this possibilityhttps://www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/2021/07/08/boris-johnson-shapps-holidays-vaccine-quarantine-covid-tests/
anotherbanana
UK old age pensions are amongst the lowest in Europe so a bit of increasing wont hurt. But it was never intended that they would increase quite so much.It would certainly give Labour something to howl about! But COVID has to be paid for and given that many folk seem disinclined to go back to work, I guess the OAP milch cows will have to be milched again.Maybe if extravagant public sectors pensions were curbed it might help. Théière
Replacing the current government would be the best move, wasting 37 billion pounds of taxpayers money on a failed test and trace system should not go un noticed.

anotherbanana
Articles written by Mr. Jones always take the same line which is to tax the so called rich to hell and destroy the City by nationalising everything. In this case he wants to take over the pension funds of most people and to let the State run them, a recipe for Cubanisation. Also known as equal shares of misery all round.Yes, there are problems with some pensions, mainly of people who have not contributed sufficiently or who do not have a deuxième pilier. One solution is to insist that all employers fund their pension funds fully before paying out dividends and bonuses and that any surpluses must remain in the funds.
