PossumGirl
I've been trying to upload an avatar (and change a few settings in my user profile) for quite a while, but when I try to save the changes I get the following error page:Server Error in '/cs' Application. Cannotinsert the value NULL into column 'UserId', table'LCommunityServer.dbo.aspnet_Profile'; column does not allow nulls.INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated. Description: Anunhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current webrequest. Please review the stack trace for more information about theerror and where it originated in the code. Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException:Cannot insert the value NULL into column 'UserId', table'LCommunityServer.dbo.aspnet_Profile'; column does not allow nulls.INSERT fails. The statement has been terminated. Source Error: An unhandled exception was generated during the execution of thecurrent web request. Information regarding the origin and location ofthe exception can be identified using the exception stack trace below. At any rate, is it something I am doing wrong? Although it seems pretty straightforward to me!Thanks.PG
Cat
Just a thought PG, but has something happened to your private email address in the first input box in your user profile (perhaps you tried to remove it)?I think that the UserId table uses your email address as the unique identifier, and the exception details look as if SQL is throwing a wobbly at having a NULL (missing) value. PossumGirl
That may be it, Cathy. I was using a different email address in the "private email address" box than the one with which I registered on the site. I tried to change it back so that the two are the same, but it won't let me do that either. So, maybe I've really messed things up?PG
PossumGirl
I just took the other email address out completely and when I went to save, didn't get an error message. So, maybe that has resolved things. I'll post this and see. Thanks, Cathy!PG

Monika
James, could I send you my "new" avatar as well, I seem to have a similar problem. But I think somehow my picture is too big??
Ex Forum Admin
Of course. Send it to webmaster@livingfrance.com [:)]Edit: Just to let you all know, the avatar can only be 80x80 pixels max.
Monika
James, I tried to send it but I think it is huge! It said it would take 9 Minutes to download so I cancelled the transfer. Can I make it smaller before I send it?
Ex Forum Admin
Sounds like it is far too big to upload. The avatars need to be 80 pixels x 80 pixels and in jpeg or gif format, so you willl need to reduce the size considerably.[:)]
hastobe
I'm having exactly the same problem when I try to change anything in myprofile - or even try to save my profile without any changes. Seems like it is trying to update a field in the database (UserID) thatis a probably an autoincrement primary key with a null value? Probably needs the code changing.Hastobe
