Problems with javascript on Gov website?

I am trying to apply for my UK OAP online (see http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/2587281/ShowPost.aspx)

tinabee suggested the site http://www.dwp.gov.uk/eservice/

but I am having some bizarre problems with it.

There are questions with either boxes to type an answer into, or a drop-down menu.

However some of these menus don't come up, so I can't choose my answer.

For example 'country' should give a list to choose from but nothing appears.

I have tried with various versions of Firefox, (from 3 to 8, a version for 64 bits)  and on one computer with XP service pack 3 and another with Windows 7 (64 bit) but none manage to bring up the missing menus.

The result is that I get an error message on several pages, because I haven't been able to reply to questions.

Any idea of what is the problem?

It is true that the site is pretty antiquated: just look at whet they say is required

http://www.dwp.gov.uk/eservice/need.asp

but it is very frustrating;  I wondered if it is a problem with Javascript.

Oh yes. These are the pages of questions.

Where there is a box or a Yes/No answer its OK.

It's the drop down menus that aren't working

Country

Phone number type

*

What is your marital status or civil partnership status?

Are three examples

Can't help with the Javascript I am afraid, but wanted to let you know I have used the site ok with Windows 7 - 64bit. Could it possibly be a popup or compatibility problem?  (Stab in the dark here). Might be worth seeing if said website has a tech help service.

It could be as simple as having pop-ups block.  This would prevent drop downs etc appearing.

I think that after IE6 it was not obvious if pop-ups were bloked or not and allowing them again will depend on which browser you are using but it will be under Tools or Internet Options or similar

[quote user="NormanH"]Thanks all.
Much to my irritation it seems now to Work in IE9, but not in Firefox [:(]
As I am an ardent Firefox fan this does not amuse me!

Now have to try to remember all my UK addresses....with dates...

Don't worry too much about the UK addresses - we rang them up about this and they only need the last 2.

Of course this was after we spent ages trying to remember and had already put 3 in!
