Englisht
LAST EDITED ON 13-Jul-04 AT 11:45 AM (BST)We are strongly considering moving from the North of England to Tournon just south of Lyon. It is an area that we have visited in the past and find it central to many areas that we like. We would welcome any advice from finding property to moving to settling in another country. We will be visiting the area in August looking for property and hopefully purchasing.Any advice will be most welcome from the most obvious to things that we may have never considered. Many thanks in anticipation
Jirac18
Don't know the area but on a more general note, we have not looked back since coming to France permanently. Lots of pros a fair few cons but overall France has a big thumbs up from us. Good luck!!!
Washy
We have never looked back. I have a small pension through ill health retirement and little income from a property we are selling in the UK on a private mortgage. That's all, the big difference is that we have no large overheads, and no mortgage. Lovely position to be in, we are not rich by any means, but seem much better off in France. We have a better social life and more friends, french and other nationalities, our son complains we are never in when he tries to call us.I am glad you are trying to improve your french before coming out here. Does your wife speak french? If you start to work she may feel isolated if the community you choose is small, if she does not speak french. You must seriously consider your position with regard to medical care before you move. There are many threads on this forum about this for you to read. Most of all good luck.
