Penny29
I've used two different sweeps since being here and had the chimneys swept 3 times in total - each time it has been E30 per chimney including certificate. I asked local people (French) for recommendations.
Dick Smith
We paid €30, but I was so gobsmacked that he turned up after several missed appointments that I forgot to ask for a certificate...
Penny29
Yes, Dick, and they never ever remind you about the certificate if you paid cash for the job!!!!I've now learned to always pay them by cheque & then they automatically write out the certificate whilst I'm writing out the payment. Westoncromwell
can anyone tell me, with regard to chimney sweeps etc1. is the certificate neccessary to make using a chimney 'legal'2. are those bricks that are meant to clean your chimney worth it and so how does that leave you if you don't have a cert kind regardsBrian ps thing in the Times today saying that a French family are being prosecuted as they 'allowed' a drunk guest to drive home. Will these mean that there will be a mega market for legirons in France ?
Teamedup
We received this info from our insurance company last week: A chimney or insert should be installed by a professional who will respect the NF in respect of the quality of the products used, both for the installation and isolation. Your chimney should be swept by a professional using a brush system at least once a year and every six months if one uses combustibles résineux or you have an insert. NOTA:le ramonage par produits chimiques ou par aspiration est inefficace. So no, our insurance company does not recommend that one uses these blocks and I suppose now they have put it in print would not cover us if we had a fire after simply using them.
