Piprob
Why not post this message on the Living France 'House Renovations' Forum. You may get a better response. (You may need to supply a little more information to help identify the white material.)

Miki
I can't be sure, as the description is a little vague but if it has a "plaster type" look, then it may well be a thing called MAP.The French love it, it can stick most things in the building trade from blocks, plasterboard to walls and most thing of that kind of nature. I have seen it all over France and have used it myself on many occasions. Take a nice lump with you to the local builders merchant and see what they reckon. Rk
Thanks for a sensible answer...I have taken a lump of this plaster type material to the local builders merchant but perhaps it is my grasp of the french language or something but I had no luck. The house is in a very rural area and the merchants are very daunting.Any more info, the full product name for instance would be of great use. Also I thought I had published this on the renovation page, perhaps somebody could advise me as to where the page is. Regards.
