Iceni
Outcast - is this the real FM (when the only girlie was Christine Perfect) ? John
Dick Smith
Christine Perfect did her best work with Chicken Shack. IMHO.
Iceni
DS - agree totally with yr comment about Ms Perfect. My first attempt at posting said "FM when it was a real band with no wimmin" - before I remembered about CP.John not
Dick Smith
Couldn't agree more. Used to see them at the Toby Jug in Tolworth, Peter Green and Danny Kirwin were magic.
Quillan
Goog god Dick that was a while back, I remember the place and some of the gig's, excellent.
Iceni
Sadly the nearest I ever got to FM was PG and the Splinter Group in Norwich in 99. Standing next to the wire fence only 6 ft from PG and the biggest speaker in the world - one day I will hear again. Also v impressed by Gary Moore's "Blues for Greeney" - but that's another story.Johnnot
Dick Smith
Qullian - saw some good bands there - FM of course, King Crimson, ELP (I held Greg Lake's wahwah pedal) and others I can't remember. Peter Green and Robert Fripp stick in my mind, though. As does having my hand stamped on by Greg Lake at 30-second intervals. It was a bowling alley for a while, now demolished, apparently the site is owned by Tescos.Sic transit gloria mundi. Dick Smith
Di - have you heard 'The Robert Johnson Songbook' - Peter Green's second comeback album? What a wasted talent (what a tormented life, poor guy).
Coffeepotdi
I got the best present of all. My young daughter was due to have a major heart operation over the Christmas period and spend the day in hospital. She was not very well so the operation was cancelled which meant we were all together at home. Thank you God. Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Iceni
outcast - not sure I agree that PG sounds better than ever but still pd good ! Di bought Decade a while ago - favourite track "Like a Hurricane" is badly worn so will have to seek a new copy at some point. Saw NY with remains of Booker T and the MGs (Donald Duck Dunn etc) at Finsbury Park in 93, what a day! Support bands included Pearl Jam and James. DS - we have 2 Splinter Group cds (somewhere) and I'm pretty sure that 1 of those starts with several Robert Johnson numbers. I still have an FM vinyl LP featuring an unclothed PG on the cover with his bits covered by a surfboard I think - bragging or what - but I cannot remember the title. But there is also a triple cd of early therefore good FM stuff. Not sure about favourite track - either Jigsaw Puzzle Blues or Black Magic Woman.Johnnot
