IAN_S
We watch a lot of TV5 in the early evening as it improves our French and is mostly better that UK tv at that time. A couple of nights ago there was a regular programme called Thalassa following a sailing boat around the coastal ports of France and this one came from Marseilles and lo and behold Ellen MacArthur turned up and was interviewed. What amazed me was her command of French, no wonder they like to interview her! I know she lives(d) in the Vendee so I suppose it's not too surprising but I wish I was in the same league.I did laugh though when she referred to her boat as Castorama, in the UK it's always B&Q, a Sponsors dream I think. Teamedup
She came to France several years ago to train here. I would always be surprised if anything Dame Ellen did was less than her absolute best and working here would mean learning french, wouldn't it! I hope she can find a guy who can live with her first love . . . the open sea.
