Furry Knickers
Just Returned From LeHavre on Pride Of LeHavre, and during the crossing on the BBC news it was announced that Brittany Ferries had pulled out of the deal to take over that route due to concerns over trade. P&O shall close the route in september and dispose of the 2 ships that serve this route. The Captain made an announcement on the pa system that they had just found out too that they are all losing their jobs, and called all the crew for a meeting, he sounded so upset and so did most of the staff. They had had their hopes built up by BF only to be let down again! What a shame they had to find out in this way! I am really sorry to see P&O go on this route which has been our regular for the last 5 years, and we never had cause to complain in all that time! We shall have to resort to Brittany Ferries Caen route from september, and I really think that they are rip off merchants, and have no doubt that they will increase fares once they have the monopoly on the western channel route.Chuck I shall call my new chicken 'Pride Of LeHavre' and I shall call my cock 'Pride Of Portsmouth'
BJSLIV
I shall call my new chicken 'Pride Of LeHavre' and I shall call my cock 'Pride Of Portsmouth' Presumably so that you can kill them off, when it feel like it?
Russethouse
Come on furryknickers, 'nature' abhors a vacuum and so entrenpeneurs.......you may find a new operator finds the route attractive (or if not it will be plain why BF did not proceed) but in any case hasn't the input of the monopolies commission possibly been a factor ? Will
As an example of 'amateur shipowners' look at Transmanche, i.e. the Seine Maritime regional council. Seriously though, don't forget that it was very much on the cards that P&O was going to stop running to Le Havre anyway. The company was in serious discussion with Caen about transferring its Le Havre service there.
