Iceni
Just picked this up on a net trawl(BBC) The public broadcaster said on Thursday it would present a new version of the popular 1950s science fiction serial "The Quatermass Experiment" on its three-year-old BBC4 digital channel on April 2 as a one-hour programme. So what is so special - IT WILL BE LIVE TELEVISION. For the first time since 1983 a drama will be shown live. Now I loved Quatermass and although I was a mere child it instilled in me a love of Sci Fi - so much so that I swapped Bunty and Girl comics and went over to the Eagle - Flash Gordon was much more fun. It probably will be in colour (shame) and I think it is about an astronuaut so no giant spiders or large pits - but I can't wait. Hopefully it will be good weather as John hates all this stuff so he can go and do something else.Sorry it is not about France, but hey, this is of WORLD importance.OK, going to lie down now and take one of my nice yellow pills
Alcazar
The first "X" rated film I went to see, slightly under age, was "Quatermass and the Pit". I remember holding another lad's cigarette hoping it would make me look older, since I wasn't a smoker myself. It worked, or seemed to as I got in, but the film gave me nightmares for a fortnight!Alcazar
Piprob
I thought the televised version was the best, Alcazar. Do you remember when they drilled through the bulkhead of the spaceship they found in the pit - and we looked through the hole - the skeletons of the dead aliens collapsed? Phew! I nearly died of fear!
Val_2
I used to come down late on saturday night when Dad was still out at whist and Mum was alone and watch the Quatermass films. Scared me silly too, especially the pit one and the one with the big oozy stuff. Was it Brian Donlevy or similar who played the Professor? I watched the first Jeepers Creepers film yesterday with my son, that was pretty scary too.
