Anybody know when overseas postal votes will be sent out? I heard that UK postal votes are sent one week before, is it longer for abroad?

Original poster, sorry, but you have to make up your own mind. Have you checked out the candidates in your ward?. If I was there that is what I would do, particularly if I was so undecided that I was moved to say so on a forum like this.

Nelson, There was a teeny bit of discussion about this (overseas voting) in another thread, perhaps the 'it's got to be labour.....' thread.

I feel the same way as you, Nelson, yet I also feel guilty somehow for not having applied for a postal vote. I intend to stay in France, so what would be the point of me voting in UK????? still at a loss.

Some people here still pay tax in the Uk even though living in France, I guess they get a say in how that money is spent although doubtless someone will tell me that isn't the criteria.

I don't attempt to vote in the UK because I appreciate I am becoming more and more detached from goings on in the UK. Currently everything I learn is second hand, either through friends or the media. So either you vote on old tribal loyalties or second hand information, neither is ideal.

Boggy, perhaps that is how I feel. After all when I lived and voted in the UK I never once gave any thought to French politics and how they would affect me and now I live in France, havn't been to the UK for over 8 years and don't intend on doing so,so what they do there is of no consequence to me here unless it is an idiot who does get the job decides to blow us all to kingdom come starting the next world war.

When you lived in the Uk did you have relatives in France ?

Gay. No relatives here in France back then. As for the old town,I havn't given it much thought lately and certainly havn't looked at the BFP online for ages as it is not the place we used to know any longer,even my parents who have lived there for their 75 years would like to leave now.

Well outcast, you know I enjoy a laugh etc but that to me just isn't funny, not in any way.

Perhaps you are saying this is the person you would (will) vote for, and trying to bring the name to peoples attention, I don't know.

I just don't know what makes people who in many ways are pretty much like me, with the same doubts and insecurities, want to promote, or vote for someone who in another era would have been called, and be reviled, as a facist.  (I don't mean you Outcast).

And when I say reviled, I mean it.

Le Pen, and the things he stands for and advocates, is loathed by many people who cut a huge swathe through tribal or traditional firmly held political beliefs and values, the type of person pollsters cannot pin down.

Just for the record, despite my doubts, I would vote Labour. My core values are Labour values, whatever mistakes they have made, good things are being done by good people.

I do not know who I will vote for.

I dislike the inherent dishonesty of all party politics. I hate the way politicians avoid difficult questions and try to manipulate facts. I saw Tony squirm last night, I believe that the Hutton Report was a white wash and that the Government / Security Services should shoulder more responsibility for Dr Kelly's sad death. (Not usually a follower of Conspiracy Theories, but on this one there are just too many inconsistencies for me to be happy with it - OK, must confess I've a bias, I liked Greg Dyke and I suppose I want to think that he was a scape goat).

I like good people doing the best they can and wanting to help other people. I am saddened by Toriess who don't care about others and likewise by good socialists who pretend to care but do nothing, claiming that charity is not the answer, the system needs changing. On the other hand, I have known Socialists and Tories who do care.

I wish Brewster (old film) was standing in my patch so that I could vote for "None of the Above"!

This thread may have started in a light hearted way but I think it has highlighted a dilemma for many UK voters.

I take my right to vote quite seriously, but I think many people will be 'spoiling' their papers this time. I have certainly heard that discussed more than ever before.

I live in Jane Griffiths constituency, an MP that has been 'deselected' so I can't even go along the 'go with what you know' route. Nothing has inspired me yet.

The Monster Raving Looney Party's idea of a 99p coin so that we don't have so much fiddle with change is appealing . Unfortunately they don't have a candidate in my area.
