Iceni Posted May 6, 2005 Share Posted May 6, 2005 John has been down into the local small town to ask about services on Sunday to commemorate the 60th anniversary of VE day. We will not be attending Mass but will be at the monument to offer our respects.Last year there was a special service and air drop to remember the 60th anniversary of the large US parachute drop actually at the place they came down. They specifically invited all the local Brits and Americans and some of original parachutists came over from the States. It was a wonderful event.For me it is not just those that died so that we can be free but those who suffered for many years after the war and many who never recovered. Very personal to me.
