surreptitious advertsing on the forum(s)

Recommended Posts

Seems to me there is an increase in postings that have web site links attached to them. Not all business ones I agree but those that are would seem to be out of order on this forum?

If I'm wrong and I'm out of order myself, I'll put my hands up and take the flak!

This has been thrashed out at length at various times in the past. A link to one personal web site is permitted in a message signature. It doesn't matter if this is your own business, as this shows you can answer questions with some authority if it can be seen that you are an electrician, B&B owner, health insurance provider etc rather than just somebody who could be making it all up. However, postings that just advertise your own products or services, rather than answer specific questions, are liable to be removed.

It can be a very grey area - but if anybody thinks a post contravenes the advertising guidelines or any other part of the code of conduct please feel free to contact any member of the admin team.

Fair enough. I get the message.... and the feelings. And yes it does bother me co's I run a business with a web site and was trying to conform to guidelines which I thought were in place. In for a penny, in for a pound n, lets all jump in the pond n get wet!

Good spell check for surreptitious by the way, shame it did not pick up on my version of 'advertsing'.
