Anton Redman
The Immo's scale charge for selling a two bedroom end of terrace the Haute Vienne is more than we paid for sellling a five bedroom semi in Surbiton. It was far higher as a percentage of price and also higher as an absolute amount without any dedicated advertising. Which sites do you recommend and which sites are you regularly checking ? We are considering a display advert in Living France
zeb
Have you tried www.frenchpropertynews.com Anton? You could advertise on the website and in the magazine - they probably reach a wider audience.Bof, hope I don't get banned now!!
BJSLIV
Bof, hope I don't get banned now I don't think it is a hanging offence to mention a sister publication of Living France!
letrangere
Fully concur with the French Property News suggestion. Their website is excellent and I would suspect much visited. It includes a good number of private sales. M
Richard-R
Put your own board up outside the house, with For Sale and a phone number. A free ad in LOOT (www.loot.com (uk)). A card in the local cafe and shop. Plus there are loads of sites that offer free adverts. google it.We sold our house in London this way and saved over 10,000. Linnorton
You could try telling the immoblier that his charges are too high. I did when buying our French house, as soon as I got hold of the breakdown on house price, notaires fees, etc. Lo and behold immo cut his charges by 2,000 euros rather than lose the sale. Tonyf
A person selling a house doesn't pay any fees to the immoblier. But if you think that the addition of his fees puts the price into the realms of it being unrealistic, then either advertise privately or reduce your price.Immobiliers do vary as far as being pro-active it concerned, so you would be well advised, if using the immobilier route to put it with as many as possible. The ones who are more pro-active will invariably do better. As for buyers using an immobilier, visiting a property and then negotiating his fees down, it's a bit like using a service such as a builder and paying him half. He had performed his function, you visited properties with him knowing what his fees were and then looked to move the goalposts. If you don't want to pay the fees, don't use an immobilier. It's no wonder our name is as it is in France.
