Teamedup
We have had quite a few robberies around here from local shops in the recent past. Boulangeries and Tabacs being the targets so far.Bearing that in mind, I have heard, from a clerk at La Poste that there are plans afoot perhaps to close lots of local post offices and post office counters being opened in......... boulangeries and tabacs. Makes me wonder if our boulangeries or tabacs would be happy to be holding all that extra cash after their recent misfortunes. The clerk said that the govt were determined to rid them selves of fonctionairres. Any one else heard this.
Will
It's already happened here. Our own commune is far too small to have a post office, but the nearest was only about 3km away. The post office there was closed a little while back, and the services are now available in the tabac. In some ways it's good, because the post office now keeps bar hours instead of being open only for short hours. The reason given was saving costs though, not robberies. We do have crime here but never heard of La Poste being targeted (if they did, our very camp facteur would no doubt hit them wiith his handbag). Or any of the other village businesses either. Patf
A few weeks ago we were thinking of changing our bank to La Poste as some of their charges are lower than our current bank. We were told , not by La Poste , that their banking facilities would be ending soon. So this would tie in. Haven't heard this confirmed though. Pat. Val_2
Not here either. Our post office will soon be incorporated inside the new mairie building instead of currently in a small office at the back of the current mairie. I signed a convention on Tuesday night to appoint the current agent for another full year's contract. I have to say though, we have three post offices within a five mile radius. Coco
We're like Bill, our Poste is the Bar Tabac and has been for several years. Perhaps Normandy is leading the way for a change!
