Teamedup
I have seen hail mentioned twice on here in the last day or two due to the storms. And the second post I saw said that the vines had been affected. As soon as a storm starts we hear the mortars going up chasing it away. Don't the viticulteurs use mortars in other regions? Motorhead
Dunno what you're on about. 'Round here only the builders use mortars, either lime or cement.
SaligoBay
It's a new one on me too, TU. Bang-bang noises round here are usually one of three things: people shooting small birdies with great big guns; jets having boyish fun with the sound barrier; or a sign that bulls are just about to be let loose on the streets, so get out of the way (if you want). Iceni
Got really really excited, went off and got the camera. Green hail, all over the veggy patch - then the penny dropped - all our tiny tomatoes and the flowers have been totally stripped from the plant.Ah well, nice crop of black basil (hail again), not a good year so far but hey, the sun is shining and we did get some rain at least. Val_2
We have lots of gas powered mortars around here in the fields of artichokes, caulis and beans to keep the rabbits and badgers away. You get used to it after a while.
