JackT
This is a good read. Sounds like a pretty pissed off nation to me! <i>“The French went on holiday with their morale already at rock bottom,” the tabloid newspaper said. “They were crushed by the insolent success of the British, their eternal rivals. Growth, consumption, unemployment, Olympic Games — they had everything and we had nothing. Tony Blair was making fun of Jacques Chirac at European summits and the ideas of France and its social model were no longer worth tuppence.” </i>http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,13509-1755986,00.html

JackT
All press articles are biased, but apparently the material came from France-Soir, Le Parisien, and Ouest-France -- straight from the frog's mouth so to speak!I'm just reading The Da Vinci Code and they don't fare too well in that either! However, keep reading.
pinkfluff<P>Big Wet Drops and Lots of Them, Are a Sure Sign of Rain!<P>
More doom and gloom .I came here because I thought it could be paradise but you needs lots or rain for that .the quote in the article "Britons have forced up property prices, pushing out locals in rural areas " is not lost on me it is something I suspected a month after I got here but have been trying to ignore it even though I know I have contributed to the property prices by buying here .Every time I go past the English estate agent down the road from me I see unsuntanned couples looking in the window .The lady that owns the gite near me said she was quite busy with all the "house hunters" I suppose the gite business could be a bit like pyramid selling if you are not carefull .Get yourself a gite and rent out to people looking for homes in France and what do the people do for income run a gite renting out to people coming to look for homes here. One day the bubble will burst .I even looked at the second house I have nearly finished for mother to live in and thought mum could stay with us and we could turn the house into a gite but pushed it out of my head
